The art of indigo dyeing grew during the Bronze Age in India but was also used by the Ancient Egyptians. Today it’s practiced all over the world, but especially in Japan, parts of Africa and across south east asia - here I am in Laos. Natural indigo is sustaianable - the excess can be used as fertiliser on crops. Rubber gloved a must.
